About the Project
NeuroVR was a healthcare technology startup that aimed to revolutionize medical visualization. The goal was to extract highly precise 3D models from CT and MRI scans and then display them in a VR application and as a 3D-printed physical model. My cofounders from that time have since continued the work and founded Olatu GmbH. The technology was intended to bridge the gap between medical imaging and physical models and provide assistance in surgical planning and medical education.
Our deep learning pipeline processed medical imaging data to automatically segment anatomical structures and generate print-ready 3D models. The system focused on vascular systems in the brain and was able to extract the structure of aneurysms with remarkable accuracy, with minimal manual work.
The 3D printing enabled surgeons to hold exact replicas of patient anatomy before entering the operating room. This tangible approach to pre-operative planning aimed to improve outcomes and support communication between medical teams and patients.
